Biography |
Daniel Bagan was born on the banks of the Skeena River in northern British Columbia into a family of prairie railroaders. He was educated in Edmonton, earned a BFA at the U of Alberta in 1978, attended Emma Lake Workshops while a student, and was a sculptors' assistant at the 1978 Commonwealth Games Sculpture Symposium in Edmonton. He lived in Toronto for some time where his signature charcoal drawings developed. Returning to Edmonton, he served in various capacities with Latitude 53 Society of Artists
and taught at the Faculty of Extension Fine Arts Division, held employment and developed the landscape themes seen here. Current work is primarily plein-aire pastel drawings and oil sketches with larger studio pieces in both mediums. The images shown are: 1.pastel drawings from large to small, 2. oils on canvas/ panels from large to small, 3. black and white charcoal drawings, 4. large older canvasses made prior to 1995.
